About Monika Brass

Monika specializes in Meditation, Yin Yoga and Mindfulness.

Having lived and trained in a Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Center for three years, Monika Brass brings an incredibly ancient and authentic type of meditation practice to her students.

Monika is a certified Yin Yoga instructor and has been teaching Yin for 5 years. She is certified in Buddhist Psychology which is akin to modern day mindfulness, and certified in Meditation, which she has practiced with monks, yogis and everyday Westerners for over 10 years. Monika has also been initiated into the Usui Reiki Healing System by a true Reiki Master, which is incredibly rare.

Monika combines all this knowledge into one powerful experience and practice. With calming energy, she invites you into the space with her, prompting you throughout the session to focus your attention and awareness inward for your own personal healing journey.

I started my journey when I lived and studied in a Tibetan Buddhist community called the Tibetan Nyingma Meditation Centers (TNMC) for 3 years becoming certified in Meditation and Buddhist Psychology in 2010.

After my time at TNMC, I went on to explore the Usui Reiki Healing System, becoming certified in 2012 from the Reiki Alliance.

Finding a deep connection between meditation and Yin Yoga, I pursued becoming a Yin Yoga teacher and was certified in 2013, and have been teaching yoga classes ever since.

I began teaching an 8-week Mindfulness course based on Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy in 2015 at the Mindful Stress & Anxiety Management Center of Philadelphia.  I have been bringing this effective program to studios and doctor offices as more students have asked me to share this course.

In my continuing search of knowledge and wisdom that I can share with my students, I joined a year long Emotional Intelligence Leadership training program and graduated in 2017.

I am based in Newtown Square, PA and teach at:

  • Prana Das Yoga Studio
  • Philadelphia Integrative Medicine
  • Private Lessons for Groups & Individuals

No!  I work with people of all denominations and backgrounds.

I have been attracted to studying and practicing meditation, self-inquiry of emotional and mental states, and understanding more, which has led to further studies outside of the Buddhist Meditation Center.  This has helped me to create a secular approach for my students. I do not consider myself a Buddhist, although I appreciate many of the philosophies.

Private lessons are approached with assesing the holistic needs of the student, often combining modalities and practices to bring a student to a desired outcome.

I have worked with individuals, families and groups of all ages.  From students who are deeply interested in self development, to students who feel temporarily lost in their direction of life, to students with restricted body movements or anxious mind.  I provide the tools for a healing journey and support my clients in reaching their goals.
